The Cause

The Cause was originally born from the spirit and mind of one young adolescent’s awakening of consciousness of the world around him.  That young man, Gerard Bozoghlian, was just a burgeoning musician when he was transplanted from Argentina to the United States, where he would not only develop his already sprouting musical chops, but also sink his roots into the very soil of what it meant to become an artist.  Music from The Cause is idealistic in it’s approach and intention, encouraging the listener to unplug their mind and begin listening to their soul.

Gerard embarked on his adolescence in the cultural and social whirlwind of Los Angeles as a young son of Armenian heritage raised in Argentine culture until his early teens.  It was the clashing of this amalgam of different social and political ideologies that was the catalyst that spawned Gerard to disbelieve the constructs and institutions of the cultural powers that be, and begin to look to music and art to find the universal truths that connect all human beings.
Bringing with him the musical education he received while in Buenos Aires, Gerard continued his studies in the States at the Los Angeles County High School For The Arts.  During his years of musical study, Gerard’s appetite for new music took him outside of the classroom and into the local record store where he ingested as many tunes from musical giants new and old.  These included legends such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis and The Doors, to name a few.  Listening to music he creates as The Cause, one can faintly hear elements of the aforementioned greats he considers as kindred spirits who strived to inspire new modes of thinking through progressive music and universal consciousness.

Through daily meditation and a pursuit of spiritual studies, Bozoghlian continues to enhance the message that traverses via the music of The Cause.  With eyes set on inspiring listeners to find their own personal awakenings and truths, The Cause has only just set sail on this lifelong musical journey.

In the coming months, The Cause will have enough music to comprise a debut album rich with chunky arena rock guitar riffs intertwined with sweeping piano notes, heartfelt vocals and thought provoking lyrics. These fresh songs, full of progressive rhythms and beautiful string arrangements have garnered the support of Serj Tankian from System of a Down and the production/engineering expertise of Dan Monti (Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Buckethead).  Shows in the LA area will be announced in the very near future, so stay tuned!
